Noel Cunniffe, CEO of Wind Energy Ireland, said: In his role as Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan has laid the foundations on which we will build a completely new, secure, energy system and end our reliance on imported fossil fuels.

“After more than 20 years of talking about developing offshore wind energy it was during his time in office that Ireland ran our first auctions for offshore wind and our first new projects in a generation have entered the planning system.

“On behalf of our members we would like to express our thanks for his commitment to making Ireland a leader in responding to the climate emergency and to making Ireland energy independent.”
