Results of 2022 National Opinion Poll confirms 4 out of 5 people back wind energy.

Cheaper electricity, reduced carbon emissions and environmental benefits listed as top three reasons for widespread support

4 in 5 people are now in favour of wind farms according to a new study.

The research, which was carried out by Interactions Research, also found that 58% would support the development of a wind farm in their local area, with just 5% opposed. These attitudes were consistent across urban and rural areas, and marked a 5% increase on favourability, compared to last year’s results.

In terms of the recognised benefits of wind power, 45% of people ranked its number one benefit as offering cheaper electricity, followed by its role in reducing CO2 emissions (22%) and it being good for the environment (18%).
