The bursary was established in memory of a former Arthur Cox partner who played a significant role in the Irish wind energy sector. It was launched in 2020 and will run each academic year until 2024. It is funded by Arthur Cox and her family, to offer opportunities to a new generation of renewable energy experts. It has already helped four young people with their studies (two in 2020 and two in 2021). It is administered by Wind Energy Ireland.

Niamh made a hugely impressive mark on the industry and this bursary aims to foster and support further ambition in this sector. Over a 20-year career Niamh advised on some of Ireland's largest energy, infrastructure and construction projects.

Alex McLean, Head of Energy, Renewables & Natural Resources at Arthur Cox said:
“Niamh played a pivotal role in the development of the Irish wind energy sector and we are delighted to provide this bursary in her name to support the next generation of industry talent, who are working towards renewable energy solutions that will help in delivering the energy transition and building a climate resilient society.”

Dave Linehan, Head of Research at Wind Energy Ireland said: “This is a very exciting opportunity. Renewable energy is our single most important tool to tackle climate change. This bursary supports work in this area and we are excited to see what this year’s applicants have planned.”
