WEI Policy Forum
14th June 2022
Hilton Kilmainham
We’re delighted to announce that the WEI Policy Forums will make their return on the 14th of June in the Hilton Kilmainham from 10.00 – 14.00. The forum will kick-off at 10.00, with expert presentations on the key elements of the REPowerEU package, published by the European Commission 18th of May, followed by a Q&A discussion session. A light lunch will be provided from 13.00 – 14.00.
The Policy Forum will put a particular focus on both the planning and markets implications of the proposals. We will discuss:
- The Commission’s Communication on “Short-Term Energy Market Interventions and Long-Term Improvements to the Electricity Market Design – a course for action”.
- The new legislative proposals on the Renewable Energy Directive which increase the 2030 target to 45% and introduce the concepts of “renewables go-to areas” and “the overriding public interest” for renewable energy projects.
- The Commission’s Recommendations and Guidance on speeding up permit-granting procedures for renewable energy projects and facilitating Power Purchase Agreements
