Supplying 30 GW to Europe
20th August 2020
Ireland’s new Government has an ambitious vision for Ireland.
The Programme for Government aims to take advantage of the “at least 30 GW of offshore floating wind power” off our Atlantic coast.
Ireland is already a world leader in onshore wind, which provides a greater share of our electricity demand than in any other country in the world.
But developing 30 GW of floating wind energy would bring us to another level entirely and not only cut our own emissions but make a significant contribution to decarbonising Europe.
So how do we get to 30 GW? How does our approach to planning and to grid development need to change? Can we build an Irish supply chain on our west coast?
And how can we ensure the phenomenal amounts of power these floating wind farms would produce can be exported to Europe?
Join us on 20 August when a panel of leaders in the Irish energy industry will explore Ireland’s exciting floating wind energy opportunity and its potential to shape Europe’s energy future.
When: Thursday 20 August, 4.00 pm - 5.00 pm
