Course Overview

Course dates are June 16th and 17th,23rd and 24th, 30th and 1st of Jul and your exam on the July 8th.

All days are  online full classroom days.

Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) is the regulatory body for Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessments in Ireland. Its sets out the requirements which all validated training courses must meet, and is the body which registers Assessors. To become a registered BER Assessor you must complete an SEI-listed training course, pass the SEI Domestic BER examination, and register with SEI.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to carry out Building Energy Rating (BER) assessments on dwellings in compliance with the current Occupational Standards for Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessor for Dwellings and Corresponding Requirements for Training Programmes leading to Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessment published by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

CMSE is an SEI-listed provider of BER Assessor courses.

 

Course Objectives

  • Be familiar with the key objectives and background to the European Performance of Building Directive
  • Be familiar with the key objectives and background to the European Performance of Building Directive
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately collect BER data on dwellings from surveys, specifications and plans that affect energy and CO2 emissions performance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to undertake limitation of primary energy and/or CO2 emission calculations as required by the Building Regulations
  • Input data into the Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP) software

Assessment 4 Case Study Assignments (50%), 10 Short Answer Questions (10%), Practical BER Assessment (40%)

Paul is experienced in energy management, equipment improvement, process improvement, efficiency measures and introduction of new technologiesPaul has worked on designing and project managing the installation and commissioning of renewable energy systems for residential and commercial applications. He is registered BER, NDBER and DEC Assessor with SEAI for domestic, non-domestic and public buildings carrying out BER assessments, energy auditing.
