WEI’s State of Energy Policy 2024, our Q4 Policy Forum, will explore how the Irish energy policy landscape has evolved over the past year — specifically from the perspective of onshore and offshore wind energy development.
With input from WEI Committee chairs and vice chairs, our member companies, Government and state agency officials and industry experts, the event will cover a broad range of topics that are important for our sector, including planning policy, grid development, routes to market for onshore and offshore and more.
We will also reflect on the road ahead for the industry including a preview of key upcoming policy and regulatory developments expected in 2025.
The format of the afternoon will focus on 2 panel discussions, with each one covering aspects of research, policy, and regulation for onshore and offshore wind.
Session 1 - Navigating a challenging planning landscape, chaired by Brian Keville, Managing Director MKO, and featuring Claragh Mulhern, Acting Principal Adviser in the Planning Division at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Alison Hardiman, Consultant, Environment and Planning Group, Philip Lee, Tina Raleigh, Head of Offshore Wind at Statkraft Ireland and Caroline Donnelly, Lead Consents Strategy Manager, SSE Renewables.
Session 2 - Delivering a grid and market designed to deliver our potential, chaired by Margaret Nee, Head of Grid, Onshore Wind & Solar at Statkraft Ireland, and featuring Rory Mullan, Consultant/Director at Mullan Grid, Kate Garth, Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager at RWE Renewables, John McGuckin, Senior Grid Consultant at ESB, Eoin McShane, Principal Officer, Offshore Energy – Long Term Strategic Planning, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and Siobhan O Shea, Head of Infrastructure Delivery at EirGrid.
After each session we will be handing our audience the floor to provide their reflections on a busy 12 months in Irish energy policy, and an opportunity to share their opinions on the key issues and opportunities facing the sector in 2025.
