Pr evious studies comprehensively show that hydrogen can potentially play a s ignificant role in decarbonising the Irish energy system. However\, there are key unanswered questions around security of supply\, resiliency\, and system flexibility service requirements. This project aims to extend the e xisting models and analysis to provide concrete policy guidance on these c ritical issues.\nThe 18-month project will discuss the potential of hydrog en-based technologies in Ireland’s energy system. To comprehensively addre ss the security of supply and flexibility services aspects of the energy s ystem\, detailed models need to be developed and tested. In support of thi s work\, consultation with stakeholders will be carried out for the full d uration of the project.\nWEI as the lead dissemination partner for the pro ject\, is facilitating an Information Session on the 31st of January 2024 to communicate the progress the project has achieved to date. This will be the first opportunity to share the inputs and high-level assumptions from the 6 core scenarios that have been identified. The purpose of the sessio n is not only to promote the work of the SPINE H2-IRL project and the impo rtance of modelling hydrogen storage in the Irish energy system\, but to g ather feedback to refine the scenarios and potentially identify future res earch opportunities.\nThere will be one main presentation from Energy Refo rm on the Spine H2-IRL project\, approximately 20 minutes in length\, foll owed by 20 minutes of Q&\;A.
